Therefore, it is necessary to recognize and reevaluate to provide solutions for development in the coming time. Reporting at the explanation session, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh stated 6 results of Vietnam's electricity industry. In 2010. Power grid projects put into operation have improved the transmission capacity, significantly contributing to ensuring power supply for loads and improving power quality.

By the end of 2019, 94 power plants with a total capacity of 26,126MW (accounting for 47.5% of the total capacity of the whole system) directly participated in the electricity market.

The competitive wholesale electricity market (level 2) has been tested from 2017-2018 and officially operated from January 1, 2019. Currently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is actively implementing the project of a competitive electricity retail market in 03 phases.

Do not passively supply energy

To develop the electricity industry in the coming period, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said that, first of all, it will focus on building Electricity Planning VIII to meet progress and ensure quality. It is expected that Power Plan VIII will be submitted to the Prime Minister in October 2020 and approved this year.

Along with that, encourage all economic sectors to invest in power generation, transmission and electricity wholesale and retail according to market mechanisms, especially through supportive policy mechanisms to encourage to encourage investment in the development of renewable energy.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade also affirmed that it will continue to advise on building financial mechanisms and policies to strongly attract domestic and foreign investment capital, encourage and support the development of the electricity industry.

According to many opinions, low electricity prices will create conditions for foreign investors to bring backward technology, not ensuring the environment into Vietnam, causing burdens on society. On the other hand, investors cannot be encouraged to enter the electricity industry.

To meet the electricity requirements in the coming time, the Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly said that: To grasp the energy thoroughly, it must be one step ahead, creating "bread" for the manufacturing industry. It is necessary to renew thinking, following the market mechanism, but ensuring the regulation of the State. Not letting the local interests of ministries, branches, localities or enterprises dominate.

In the next period, it is necessary to have a reasonable source structure, including coal-fired thermal power, not to be passive in the energy supply. At the same time, focus on building synchronous transmission system to timely release the power plant's capacity.
