Prepare a box with several dedicated compartments that you'll use to seal up in your kitchen. Wrap each bulb in an air-filled plastic cushion and then pack them into compartments, one in each slot.
Add an air-filled plastic cushion at the top before sealing the box. Label your bulb containers so you or your carrier know to be more careful with them.
A word of warning: incandescent bulbs cannot be shipped, as they are filled with mercury, which is toxic if spilled. If you have any incandescent bulbs, you'll have to dispose of them properly and buy new bulbs when you get to the next home.
Handling the lampshade
After removing the bulbs, we will treat the lampshade by wrapping each lampshade in packaging paper. This is very important when using packaging paper that makes sure nothing is printed on it, because it is easy to get dirty.
Each lampshade must be individually packed in an individually-sized box. You can however nest a small section inside a larger lampshade, as long as the two are fitted up to fit together.
Fill the gaps around the lampshades with extra packing paper, air-filled plastic cushions, or even dishcloths or socks with anything soft that will prevent them from moving.
Handling the lamp base
Finally, the lamp base. Wrap each sole in wrapping paper, adding an air-filled plastic wrap if the sole is made of a sensitive material like glass or porcelain. If you use a plastic cushion, protect it with tape.
Unlike the lampshade part, you can probably pack multiple stands in one box. Just make sure not to put anything on the top of the light such as harp lights, fins, switches, and stand base; that is, the area where you turn the bulb and attach the shade to prevent any metal bending.
How to package the floor lamp
Follow the same steps as above to wrap and pack the bulb and lampshade for the floor lamp. However, since their size doesn't fit in just one box, you'll need to have a ton of packing plan.
Floor lamp base made of fragile material should be wrapped in an airtight plastic wrap and transported with care. Be careful not to put anything heavy on the base in the truck though. If possible, separate them from other items.
A few tips when packing lights
1. Measure your lights before buying the box.
When choosing the right size boxes for your lights, it will ensure the safest. Measure the stand and lampshades before buying boxes to avoid stuffing that can cause warping.
2. Mark the shipping label
Number your light boxes, using the same number on the box that contains the lamp base or other types of bulb parts. That way, you will easily find and reassemble your light-piece components when you unpack.
3. Remove the goods as soon as possible
Quickly ship and install your lights as soon as they arrive in your new home. Bulbs are especially susceptible to warping if they are not packed correctly. Hopefully you should have no problems packing the lights, especially if you followed the steps above.
