Transforming old or discolored wood furniture into a valuable asset is within your reach if you're willing to invest time and creativity. Any paintwork effect on wooden furniture can be done depending on the size of the item and how it will be used.
1. Examine your furniture in detail. If there are several layers of old paint, or paint peeling, use cleaning chemicals and a rake to expose the wood workpiece. Protect your hands with rubber gloves.
2. Fill cracks with putty and sand until smooth. 2 coats of water-based paint. If the paint is done, sand it lightly. Apply 2 coats of primer with the color you want to use.
3. Mix 1 part paint into 3 parts Glaze solution to create artistic effects. Use a hand brush to naturally apply some glaze onto the woodwork. Use tools to create the effect you design. Tools that can be made are a rag, sponge, cheesecloth (cheese wrap), woolen roll, nylon bag, paintbrush or brush to create the pattern you want.
4. Draw swirls and lightly press 2 different shades of glaze on the surface with a round brush to create a white marble effect. Use edge brush (flat tip brush) and glaze to create more realistic circuits.
5. Apply PU paint with 2-inch angle brush. Choose a high-gloss or medium-gloss finish for an extra shine. When dry, lightly sand with wool before applying a second coat of PU.
