"You should 'spread' your resume a lot, ask the seniors to help you with your CV or write a letter of introduction to increase the rate of being called for an interview," he said.

Alumnus of FPT University also revealed that the interview round of US technology companies is heavy on algorithms. To overcome these questions, candidates need to practice and study hard. "I often practice at Leetcode website," Viet Anh shared. In addition, studying carefully to understand the evaluation and scoring criteria of each company is also the secret to passing the interview round.

"Facebook scores according to 4 criteria, problem solving, coding, testing, verification. Therefore, if you finish listening to the question, your code can always be disqualified because you can't show problem solving skills. You should ask more about the problems. details are not clear, then discuss different ways to solve it, before starting to write code," Viet Anh said.

Before that, Viet Anh did not dare to have the "American dream" because he was not confident in his professional knowledge or foreign languages. But during his time at FPT University, participating in a foreign semester at a technology university in Japan, he had the opportunity to self-study, improve his foreign language skills, get used to the learning and working environment in Vietnam. a country other than Vietnam. Since then, he has become more confident with his dream of going abroad to work.

Working at Amazon for 5 years, Facebook for 2 years, Viet Anh has achieved certain achievements. "At Amazon, I became an expert in video streaming. I created a low-latency streaming service that served a large number of viewers. It was later integrated into Amazon Web Services." I said.

According to FPT University alumni, working at global technology companies will bring you valuable and different experiences. "The most exciting thing I've experienced at Facebook is making video services for a billion people, spread across time zones. The way I do the software will obviously change when it has a billion users. For example, the Optimizing to save 10 milliseconds is rarely a priority for a few thousand people, but will be very valuable for a billion people," Viet Anh shared.

Now, while pursuing a long-time favorite job related to Machine Learning at Cruise (USA), Viet Anh considers this a challenge because "no other company has been able to fully solve the problem of self-driving cars." but at the same time is the motivation for him to "explore, feel like the leader".

Experiencing different positions and working environments, Viet Anh realizes that, although the work intensity at the world's leading technology companies is very fast and serious, there are always opportunities for young employees to work. familiar. He had 6 months at Amazon, 3 months at Facebook and similar time at Cruise despite being a seasoned programmer to adapt to the new environment.

"The knowledge of software platforms such as algorithms, networks, and OS is very useful. I may not remember everything after learning, but I will have a basis to look up again if needed," Viet Anh shared his experience. experience on applying knowledge learned at FPT University. In addition, according to him, the ability to think independently and solve problems are the strengths that FPT University creates for students, making it convenient for them to start working in foreign companies.
