English requirements 

When it comes to the conditions for studying abroad in the US, English is definitely not to be missed. This country uses English as a common language for daily communication, so to study abroad in the US, you need to have sufficient English ability to participate in the visa interview at the US Embassy. At the same time, achieve the IELTS or TOEFL score to enter the school and major you register for. 

Each program will have different English proficiency requirements. Basically, you need to meet the following conditions:

• High School Program: May not require an international English certificate but must achieve an ELTiS test score of at least 205 points. In addition, some schools will require international students to take a separate English entrance exam. 

• College and university programs: IELTS minimum 6.0 or TOEFL score of 68 or higher. 

• Postgraduate program: IELTS minimum 6.5 or TOEFL score of 79 or higher.

Some majors will have higher requirements for foreign language proficiency, including Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, STEM, etc. For those who do not meet the English proficiency requirements, you can completely register for a supplementary or preparatory course before entering the official course. 

Educational requirements 

Besides English, education is also a prerequisite to determine whether you can study abroad in the US or not. Similar to English, each level of education in the US will have different requirements regarding education:

• University preparation program: Completed grade 11 in Vietnam, GPA from 6.5 or higher.

• College and university programs: Graduated from 12 years of high school in Vietnam, minimum GPA 6.5. 

• Master's Program: Bachelor's degree in the relevant field or related field. Some schools and programs also require GRE or GMAT scores and work experience.  

Most prestigious universities or HOT majors require high student classification. Accordingly, in addition to "top" academic qualifications and foreign languages, you need to have SAT, GMAT or GRE certificates. 

Financial conditions

One of the factors that helps you receive an admission letter from a school in the United States as soon as possible is finance. International students need to prove that their family or themselves have enough financial resources to pay for the first year of tuition and living expenses during their time studying and living in the United States. Tuition fees will vary depending on the level of study, specifically: 

• High School Program: Average tuition from 15,000- 60,000 USD/year. 

• Community college tuition : Ranges from 9,000- 15,000 USD/year. 

• Conditions for studying in the US at university /college: Tuition is about 10,000-60,000 USD/year. 

• Postgraduate tuition : Average about 20,000- 35,000 USD/year. 

In addition, international students also have to pay living expenses ranging from 9,000-15,000 USD/year depending on each person's spending needs. Note, all documents and financial evidence of you and your family must be clear, transparent and accurate!

Conditions for studying abroad in the US on health

Before coming to the US to study, most international students must undergo a rigorous health check-up at a medical facility designated by the US Consulate. In addition, you must be vaccinated with all required vaccines such as tetanus, measles, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, diphtheria, whooping cough, influenza A and B, polio, rubella, etc. to prevent infectious diseases.
